The Gift That Continues To Give

BEHOLD, A VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD, AND SHALL BRING FORTH A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME EMMANUEL, which being interpreted is, God with us. (Matthew 1:23)

One day when Mary was seen by her husband before they had sex, she found out she was pregnant with child.  The strangest thing to her was that she never had sex with a man before.  Now her husband Joseph was an upright, just, and law abiding man.  So instead of wanting to have his wife Mary talked about by the public, Joseph decided that he’d have her put away in a private place until after the child was born.  Little did Joseph know that God was up to something.  While Joseph pondered in his head how and where he would have his Mary sent to, an angle of the Lord came to him in a dream.  The angel said to Joseph, “thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and he shall save his people from their sins.”  Joseph did just as the angel told him.  For he took unto Mary his wife, loved her, and didn’t have sex with her until after she brought forth her firstborn son Jesus.

As we celebrate this Christmas holiday season, let us remember the first Christmas gift that was given to us on that first Christmas night.  That gift was the baby Jesus.  You see He came so that you and I may have life abundantly.   This year like most many gifts will be bought.  A whole lot of people will receive a gift.  However, amongst the gift giving to family, friends, and loved ones, lets not forget the first gift that was ever given.  That was when God gave his son Jesus.

Picture that night where there was not one vacant room in any hotel nearby.  The only place for the Savior of the world to be born was out in a cold stable.  Even though the world had no room for Jesus, He still had room for the world.  There lying in a manger was God’s gift to the world.  That gift is still given today.  That gift is an opportunity to be His child, to be rescued from whatever issue we may have in our life, and an eternal home called haven.  The three wise men that came barring gifts had something to offer Jesus.  What do you have to offer Jesus this Christmas?

Joy to the world the Lord has come.  Let that same joy live in and through you.  Share God’s gift of love He gave to the world that Christmas night to someone you meet this Christmas. A smile, a kind world, or deed is sharing God’s gift of Love.   I wish each and everyone a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.  Continue to prosper and “be blessed.”
